MSB is the Swedish authority tasked with ensuring that society is prepared for major accidents, crises, and the consequences of war. It operates under the direction of a Government-appointed Director General and has around 1,200–1,300 employees located in places including Karlstad, Kristinehamn, Stockholm, Sandö, Revinge, and Rosersberg. MSB works proactively to reduce risks and vulnerabilities in society, develop capabilities to manage emergencies, and strengthen coordination and response for serious incidents — whether these are everyday accidents, national crises, or wartime threats.
