  • Update: I have pulled my main site away from Hostgator and gone with Bluehost. Choice Plus Hosting, $144 for 3 years, and $13 / year for the domain name. Yes, I know Bluehost is also under EIG and I expect the same hassle in three years. It took Hostgator over a week to provide all my EPP codes, multiple support chats, elevated support and emails but at least it's over. I do miss the folksy Texas help over the phone with Hostgator but that was 15 years ago. This is what happens when companies get bought.
  • Well the fun never stops with hostgator. I thought I was done with them but I renewed one wordpress website hosting for one more month, $21.99 so I could do a backup. On my bank statement there were 2 charges for $21.99. Hostgator turned auto renew back on without my authorization. They are a shit company. I'll be disputing the charge with my bank. Edit- Bank agrees with me. I win. Eat a bag of dicks, hostgator.

  • I think you should try enabling wp\_debug on wp-config.php file to understand better from where this error is coming from and then try to diagnose it more deeply. Would you do that and paste here the result, please?

  • Update: They're still trying to tell me it's my IP address and my connectivity provider. The bouncing is still happening. Curiously, webmail works on HostGator, so I have a workaround. But I'm seriously considering moving my email hosting.
  • Having this exact same issue and getting nowhere with Hostgator. They keep telling me the IP address is black listed at my ISP. I have been telling them the problem is Cloudfilter. Im looking at other options at this point. The support is abysmal.
  • Similar problem here with the following error message from the SMTP server: 550-"\[110.77.nnn.nnn\]:49801 is in an RBL on [bl.pro1.websitewelcome.com](http://bl.pro1.websitewelcome.com), see 550 Blocked - Botnet Detention" Trouble is, that IP address is shared by about 350 rooms in a condominium unit in Cha Am Thailand. The ISP is National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), a Thai state-owned telecommunications company. I have no idea what to do next.
  • I had similar issues with hostgator mail being flagged for spam. Sometimes it was due to the IP address of the hostgator server (not my personal IP). I went through all sorts of steps to set up SPF, DKIM & DMARC for spam authentication with limited success. Switching to hushmail was the only step that actually solved my issue.
