Marijuana at hotels

I travel a bit for work and stay at hotels often. I have recently been encountering marijuana at multiple hotels. I may be in the few who find mj to be gross and want nothing to do with it. People are...

  • We ask them to stop and we charge the room $500

  • No judgement on use, but I can't *stand* that stink.

Can a 2nd unregistered person be in my room?

So. Me and my gf plan to meet and have a great time together while on our vacation. The thing is that she is under the age of 18, while I am 18 and she doesn't want to tell her parents that she will b...

  • This sounds problematic on all sorts of levels…
  • If I checked you in and saw her walking up to my desk later asking for a key with an under 18 ID, I would question it and probably deny it if she had a different last name. If I saw yall walk in together, there's a 75% chance idd turn yall away. While i dont have a problem, my management has a strict no rent to young adult policy. Just wait till shes 18. I don't know the situation, but I had a friend that ruined his life all because his GF was 17 and the dad didnt like the guy. Buddy is now a registered sex offender...
  • Not sure why you're asking us at this point. You seem to have an answer to everything people are telling you unless they say "we won't care". You seem to have already decided to do it, so just do it. If you get caught, regardless of how minimal the chance, you were warned, so don't take it out on the hotel or its staff if you get caught and they kick you out or any other consequence.
  • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Niceeee
  • I feel like you're nervous about the wrong thing.

  • Honestly we aren’t allowed to cancel points reservations. In the event the hotel is above 85% it doesn’t even matter. The company will pay rack rate to the hotel. That basically means that it’s not worth it to bump guests on points bc the company will pay out whatever our highest rate is. It really does sound like a glitch. Because of the Microsoft fuck up today a lot of our systems went whacky. Also what I always tell people is that we offer points to situations in which we can bring up the score you might leave us. If you’re likely to score us low anyways, it’s not worth it to us to spend extra to make you happy. Budgets are getting squeezed at every possible angle these days. I can’t even buy staples right now.
  • Policy is person who’s name made the reservation has to check in. Some places are more lenient on it, as you’ve experienced with calling in and adding a name. Scammers and fraudsters only get worse as time goes on. At my property if any reservation has some note like “Joe is ok to check-in” or “my employee” or “my son” we instantly cancel them and send a cancellation email. 90% of the time those reservations end up being fraudulent. Most brands policy is that core person has to be the one to checkin.
  • Or scotch tape or post its lol
  • TL;DR
  • Thanks for the comments everyone. I should mention that the cancellation had nothing to do with any policy of the hotel. No one could tell what happened with the cancellation according to IHG I cancelled it or it was a “Glitch” in the system. Either way they would not reinstate my stay at the Hotel even though rooms were available I could not book under points like I had the first time. Just a bad situation made worse by bad property owners. To the person that said that the one Holiday inn hotel having zero influence on the rest of IHG hotels, i think you are wrong. If this were the case there would not be an IHG brand. Now this hotels poor behavior will impact my choice everywhere I travel even if the parking lot is empty at 9pm and I have not booked a hotel yet.
