  • Honestly it's a tricky problem but far from exclusive to Wikipedia. The main way to solve it is to find the origins of said claims and verify if they are accurate. I remember seeing this video about a Welsh Kingdom that never existed that was on Wikipedia. The reason it was added to Wikipedia was because said kingdom was added to the game Crusader King's 2. CK2 got it's information from a prolific fabricator of Welsh history. This game of pass the parcel happens all the time even in academic circles. The process of review always helps iron out this inaccuries but it's a slow process and making misinformation is quick.
