  • It may be worth it (depending on your volume) for you to open an American pass through entity and Stripe account. Japan’s Stripe fees are 3.6, and the US is 2.9. Plus in Japan, you then need to pay another 2 for currency conversion, which you could get at a bank for far less. If you’re not running high volume, I’d just read around the Stripe docs for dynamic currency conversion, take your payout in JPY, and call it a day. Right now the Yen is pretty weak (I’m in Tokyo right now, you have a beautiful country :), so even after paying fees which will probably net to 5-6 percent, you’ll still do pretty well. The US is actually a pretty great tax heaven if you aren’t an American, but you’d need to discuss the specifics with an accountant and lawyer.
